Hey Bob, how close are you to Penn State? I'm going to try and score tickets to the September 6th game against Oregon State and perhaps we could meet. That would be way cool!

Hi Bob. Your story is pretty similar to mine. I was diagnosed Stage 1 at age 51 and cured via surgery. I will be two years post-op in August of this year. I will be the M.C. for my local area Relay for Life for the second straight year the first weekend of June and we're hoping that our son will have arrived by then to join me on the survivor's lap.

Keep ridin'!

very interesting. I think sometimes I am over-treated. For example, I have 2 colonoscopies each year. I know its a small price to pay to keep living and healthy, and the test isnt really as bad as folks fear. However, each test brings forth all the anxiety, and so, it seems I never quite get over it and settle back to normal. In other words, if cancer of the colon is so slow growing (one of the slowest) sometimes taking 5-10 years to become malignant, do I really need screenings this frequently? anyway, my next is in a few months so I'll stop complaining, see how that goes, and see if I can go on a less frequent schedule. EAch time I go theres a few polyps to remove but isnt that the point? Why is it so important that they come out in 6 months? by the way love the bike had one for about 20 years but that went when my son came along.

I am actually quite close to you--coming up on 5 years myself soon. Maybe thats the question--is this all there is? Is it really all over and done?

Hello, 25 states have an F in colon cancer legislation. That means people under 50 have to fight to get a colonoscopy even if they are showing symptoms. This is why my diagnosis was delayed. Please read the message below.
Please read
Many states have an F in making their insurance companies pay for colon cancer screening. The docs are forced to tell people like me that I am too young. Then we go on thinking we're ok for symptoms disappear for a while then we're diagnosed with stage III or IV cancer. Please help me

Could you please sign and forward my guestbook through bulletins and email for people to sign? In the message box, type I support colon cancer laws in America. Please don't wish me a happy birthday. :) Thanks. It is to support colon cancer laws. 13,000 people under the age of 50 are being diagnosed with colon cancer every year. Around 150,000 people total are being diagnosed every year. And 56,000 people are dying from it every year. It's the 2nd leading cause of death in the country yet only 25 states support colon cancer screening for the unisured and the insured. My wish if for 1,000 to sign by my 43rd birthday on June 29th.A beginning to stop the pain and sorrow. You do not have to post your picture or email address. See if your state measures up on colorectal cancer legislation providing colonoscopies to all including people under 50. http://www. eifoundation. org/national/nccra/report_card/

Remember 13,000 people under 50 are being diagnosed with colon cancer every year. With colonoscopies being insured, we can cut this in half by early detection of polyps. Please sign my guestbook.

Haha, good question, Bob. It took me a while to figure out what NED meant, too! No Evidence of Disease. Of the hundreds, and probably thousands, of acronyms used surrounding this disease, NED is definitely one you don't tire of hearing. :)
