Kathryn replied to Jeannie Moore's discussion A very hard post for me to write, but I wanted you all to know ......My mother is now 13 years out from her diagnoses and doing wonderful at 82 years old! In her honor, I am committed to help fund the Blue Note Fund so families who are struggling today with treatment costs, putting gas in their tanks, food on their tables, have a little extra help they need.
The Blue Note Fund (blue note is the worry note) was created and funded by generous members who have traveled this path and know first hand how tough it is to pay all the bills. If you can help by donating $10,25, 50 or more, we will be able to help families with a one-time $300 grant. Better yet, have a fundraiser specifically for the Blue Note Fund!

No one can control getting cancer, but we all can control how we use our experience to help others. By participating here on My CRC, being a buddy for CCA or donating to the Blue Note Fund, you are honoring your experience, putting meaning to your suffering, and making this world a bit brighter for the next patient who hears the words "you have colon cancer".
thank you,
jeannie
3littlebunnies said… Wow, Jeannie, I just wanted to thank you ever so much for starting this site and your kind heartfelt support. You are an angel, that is for sure. God bless.
EllonQ said… Yes Jeannie, we did. The Blue Note Event, is a night I will always remember.
radio editer said… Knoxville is our home town, and we love it here. Fort Sanders Med.Ctr. has been wonderful. I'm recovering from the surgery, still weak and some pain, but better every day, thanks. I'll return to work first week in June. Meanwhile, the surgeon is working to determine whether genomic testing is a possibility. Oncotype DX is the particular test. I'm not particularly afraid of chemo, but I would not want to have it and not need it, either.
Debbie Weaver Oxner said… Thank you Jeannie for the nice invite; this is an awesome site. I am new to the site so bear with me. My husband is scheduled to start his yearly recheck with the surgeon next week. No, he never was able to start chem due to the complications with the surgeries, and when the time to discuss chemo. He had a PET scan and was clear. That was last year.
MicheleK said… oh, that's what NED stands for! I believe either is okay. btw, there's a link for a short survey they can go directly to and answer questions to determine eligibility. Please feel free to forward this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S9RNGNF or my work email: kabacinskim@hagensinclair.com.
MicheleK said… Thank you so much for the warm welcome, Jeannie. This is such an amazing community here; it's so positive and supportive. Very encouraging and great to be learning all the ways ppl deal with their situation. Also such good news to learn about some of these treatments that have kept ppl not just alive but surviving and thriving for 5 - 6 years and beyond. Remarkable and so inspiring! Please do feel free to have anyone interested in nutrition and dietary support contact me directly at kab.michele@gmail.com. Any guidance and information I can help with is a great opportunity for me. And anyone who wants to help other CRC patients going forward and is interested in learning more about a research study, please do also send them my way. I hope nothing but the best or at the very least maybe we can bring one happy or bright spot to one person.
Mary Zokan said… Hi Jeannie. I'm looking at the dates of posts from when I first joined the online community back in early February and wanted to explain my absence and unresponsiveness. On February 8, I was scheduled to have my ostomy take down but it was abruptly cancelled due to a rise in my tumor marker. After countless tests and procedures, recurrence was not found in the colon/rectal area. A small tumor on my liver was discovered. On March 6, I underwent a liver resection with 10% of my liver removed, a removal of my gall bladder due to gall stones and the reversal of the ostomy. I will be 9 weeks post-op tomorrow. So far, my tumor marker has been normal but I'm still leery of the word "remission" knowing how quickly it can all change. I am not having any post surgical chemo and I have maxed out for radiation in the pelvic/abdominal area. I'm healing quickly, feeling better every day and getting used to the new normal that is my GI tract. Have been cleared for light exercise and have started and that is making a difference in how I feel. I notice there is no Undy 5000 run/walks in the Chicago area where I live. Do you know if anybody is planning an event here in the future? Thank you and take care, Mary
Pat Febbraro said… Hi Jeannie, Sorry for the confusion, but I thought I was still in my first line of defense but apparently not. Yes I was on Folfox my first 7 treatments, then had surgery and then was switched to the folfiri with vectibux and now erbitux regiment.

Thanks, babe! Good to hear from you. I had forgotten about J's birthday, so I'll email her. Looking forward to July! CU then.
Stephenie Holmberg said… Hey Jeannie! Yes, it has been HOT lately! But not too bad so far this week. You had asked if I'd hiked here - I've never done any hikes here in AZ...let alone anywhere else-ha! But would love to. I hope you are enjoying the sunny weather here. :o) Hope you are doing well.
