thinking of you.

Always hard for survivors to lose a friend - when it's a family member to the same disease - omg, you need to be gentle with yourself my friend.  Deep breaths, I'm sure you are a comfort to him.  Sometimes, no words need to be said.  Just sit and be with him.  We're here for you.

thinking of you,

Hi Karen! So happy to meet you. thanks for getting back to Jeannie about the buddy program. I'm hoping that we can have some good conversations. I'm going April 10th for a consult on the HIPEC surgery. So, do we talk here? I'm not sure how the buddy system works. Let me know! I'm happy to meet you :)

Karen, How  are  you  doing? How  was  your  trip  to  see  your  brother?  Are  you  still  in  treatment? I  have  had  a  recurance  to  the  right  lobe  of  my  liver;it's  not  near  a  main  artery  so  my  radiation  oncologist  said  we  are  going  to  go  for  a  cure. I  have  3-visits  to  him  before  the  actual  radiation  at  2-3  treatments  total. I  was  told  if  this  somehow  failed  to  cure  me  then  i  will be  put  back  on  chemo. The  doc  also  said  i  was  like  in  the  15-percent  that  can  have  this  kind  of  radiation  that could  very  well  cure  the  cancer. Do  you  know  anything  about  radiation  or  have  you  had  it?  They  told  me  not  to  be  impatient  because  the  treatments  have  to  be  given  at  precise  timing  to  try  for  the   cure. I  would  like  your  input on  this  Karen!! The  side  effects  are  nausea , loose  bowels ,  and  right  sided  chest  wall  pain. I  don;t  think  i  will  lose  my  hair. Anxiousely  awaiting  to  hear  from  you.  HUGS    Karen

Hi Karen,

Thanks a lot for friending me. I am in the depths right now. I'm trying to make decisions. Can you tell me your experiences with folfuri and erbitux? That is what they recommend for me next.

Happy Anniversary

Posted on March 24, 2011 at 8:00pm 3 Comments

I was diagnosed February 2006 - this means I am into my fifth year overcoming cancer.

My sons were in high school when I was diagnosed.

My oldest is a now first year law student.

My younger son is at Ohio State and will graduate in June.

I am so grateful for these milestones in our lives.

Thanks everyone for helping me along this journey.

Love,

Karen

Good Ol Summertime

From the June Buddy Newsletter:

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.

O thou, my lovely boy, who in thy power

Dost hold Time's fickle glass, his sickle, hour;

Who hast by waning grown, and therein show'st

Thy lovers withering as thy sweet self grow'st;

If Nature, sovereign mistress over wrack,

As thou goest onwards, still will pluck thee back,

She keeps thee to this purpose, that her skill

May time disgrace and wretched minutes kill.

Yet fear her, O thou minion of her pleasure!

She may detain, but not still keep, her… Continue

Fall Update

Posted on September 8, 2009 at 6:14pm 0 Comments

A lot going on at my home front. My husband has kidney stones and my sons will be going back to college 15th.

I have several tests coming up 22nd - 29th this month: CT, PET, X-ray, bloodwork. Also GYN and Oncologist appointments too.

With all this going on I haven't been as active on my page or the message board. Sorry, I hope to be back on a "normal" schedule soon.

Hope you have enjoyed these lovely summer days as much as I have.
