Always hard for survivors to lose a friend - when it's a family member to the same disease - omg, you need to be gentle with yourself my friend. Deep breaths, I'm sure you are a comfort to him. Sometimes, no words need to be said. Just sit and be with him. We're here for you.
thinking of you,

tonibaloni said… Hi Karen! So happy to meet you. thanks for getting back to Jeannie about the buddy program. I'm hoping that we can have some good conversations. I'm going April 10th for a consult on the HIPEC surgery. So, do we talk here? I'm not sure how the buddy system works. Let me know! I'm happy to meet you :)
Karen D Black said… Karen, How are you doing? How was your trip to see your brother? Are you still in treatment? I have had a recurance to the right lobe of my liver;it's not near a main artery so my radiation oncologist said we are going to go for a cure. I have 3-visits to him before the actual radiation at 2-3 treatments total. I was told if this somehow failed to cure me then i will be put back on chemo. The doc also said i was like in the 15-percent that can have this kind of radiation that could very well cure the cancer. Do you know anything about radiation or have you had it? They told me not to be impatient because the treatments have to be given at precise timing to try for the cure. I would like your input on this Karen!! The side effects are nausea , loose bowels , and right sided chest wall pain. I don;t think i will lose my hair. Anxiousely awaiting to hear from you. HUGS Karen

Thanks a lot for friending me. I am in the depths right now. I'm trying to make decisions. Can you tell me your experiences with folfuri and erbitux? That is what they recommend for me next.

I was diagnosed February 2006 - this means I am into my fifth year overcoming cancer.
My sons were in high school when I was diagnosed.
My oldest is a now first year law student.
My younger son is at Ohio State and will graduate in June.
I am so grateful for these milestones in our lives.
Thanks everyone for helping me along this journey.
Love,
Karen

From the June Buddy Newsletter:
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.
