About Me:
My name is Mary, and I am 47, just recently diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, had surgery for colon, and they removed all off the tumors, but now my oncologist says that there still is cancer in the colon lining, don't know exactly what that means, also is in several locations of the liver, so don't don't if they can do surgery on the liver, I need a online buddy/friend who I can chat with, to help me through this. My chemo starts next week, and I am getting my port in Thursday of this week. I am scared, and like a roller coaster with up and downs. Please feel free to email me, I would love to chat, or even meet.
Today, after 12 chemo treatments, My liver cancer is back. I only was off chemo for approx 2 months, and it all came back. I am discouraged of course, I am a diabetic too, which doesn't help any. Please I love to chat, email me if you would like angelmom1361@aol.com, or comment. I would love any kind of encouragement, or stories like mine.

Hi Mary - I celebrated my 10 year anniversary this past May (thank God!) for being cured from colon cancer/mets to liver. And that was 10 years ago.... just think how much more progress has been made medically. If I can answer any questions or be of any help, drop me a line. You can get through this - I am living proof. God Bless!

Hi Mary, like you, my husband is diabetic as well, he has to give himself 6 insulin shots every day (byetta, and lantus) his diabetes was all diet controlled with no pills or shots until he started chemo in december of 2008 when 1 of the chemo drips was a steroid.....I am praying for you and hope all goes well with you, feel free to chat with me anytime...keep your chin up, Sherri

Mary,

It was good to hear back from you. May I ask which chemo they are using this time, and are suffering side effects? When I had chemo it was FU5, or some clinical test ehich I didn't qualify. Lucky me!!! 5 years free. Keep you're attitude up as well as you can, and remember those isolated cries of why me? are also allowed.

Mary,
I don't have any experience with liver mets. You stated that the C. was in the colon lining. I am wondering that if you had colon cancer, didn't the physician remove a section of the colon? Did he only remove the tumors? The port will be a blessing because it deletes all those sticks to find a vein for your chemo and will help avoid all the venous damage that can occur. Just be sure you know when to get it flushed meaning they just run saline in it from a syringe. I had a port and it was used for other things than chemo like saline infusions when I got too dehydrated and potasium infusion when I needed it.
Of course I'll be your friend, I am honored that you asked. My best offering to you are my prayers
