~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Daddy was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in October 2005 at the age of 56.
He had four major surgeries, including three liver surgeries, several different chemo treatments, several clinical trials, and many research studies to help future patients. He received his care primarily @ Hopkins.
The cancer remained only in the liver.
Daddy was always joking and laughing, even when he was in pain or discouraged. He is amazing!!
Daddy, or as others know him, Dr. John Robbins, was an author, editor, & publisher. He continued to work full time (taking breaks for recovery & chemo) since he was diagnosed in October 2005. He wrote three books and published many more since his diagnosis.
I love my Daddy so much! My Daddy lived an amazing life and he gave so much to so many. I know God has a special place for him in heaven. I know God welcomed him Home and told him well done my good and faithful servant, 'well done.'
Daddy was married with three daughters, two son-in-laws, and six grandchildren! He adored being "PopPop."
I am his youngest daughter, Meri. I was his primary caregiver, advocate, and researcher. I love my Daddy! He is my Hero!!
Hi my sweet Angel. I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I have been having a rough patch of my own.
When I heard the news of your Dad passing it brought tears to my eyes as I am sure it did to many others. Your Dad's strength and fortitude going through such a painful time had made a stronger person out of me when I needed it and among other things I will always remember him for that.
I have always called you my "strongest Angel", keeping us all up to date on your Dad's condition. I know you needed to be strong for that. I also know that this sad time in your life has chipped away at some of your strength which is expected.
What i also know is that you will always have that strong love for your Dad even though he is in God's hands now. You will always have the fondest of memories also, they will never ever leave you.
I still pray for your Dad. I know that God is very busy and I do not want God to forget what a strong and loving soul he has taken from this earth. And you, my sweet Angel, you are always in my prayers, to keep up your strength to carry on. Ever since we met I just knew how strong of a woman you are and I know that you will always continue to be that way.
Love you Angel!
Ronnie
Dear Meri and family,
I am not sure if my first message went through...
I was so sorry to hear about your Daddy's passing. I know that he fought a wonderful fight with you and your family by his side all the time. He is at peace now and will be that angel on your shoulder that you hear from time to time.
Sincerely,
Linda
I was so sorry to hear your latest news on your Dad. I have been pulling for him so hard with every update you had sent me. I know we have met but with every mail update I feel that we have met also. It really brought me to tears when I just read your letter. I know how strong of a woman you are and I know you are depending on that strength to get through this.
The following my Rabbi had read to me when my life was on the line for the first time after my diagnosis and things looked bad for me. They are thoughtful words and I hope they help:
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee.
God wanted me now, He set me free.
I know they are just words but they helped me when I thought it was my turn.
I love you with all my heart!!!!
Meri! I love you! You are so super amazing! Thanky ou for all your wonderful support! I don't know where you find the strength to constantly be so giving and supportive! You are truly an inspiration.
I got home from the hospital last night, it was a doozy this time. it took so long to recover, my surgeon said it was because they had to literally cut out all the old mesh that even though my body rejected it, it formed into the skin after like three years. GROSSS!...lol.
anyway, I am having difficulty taking it easy i have seriously not stopped since I woke up this morning. You knw me Meri, I am like an energizer bunny!
I miss you so much! Take care :)
